Robert Loden

June 14, 1936 - December 2, 2018


Robert Loden, 82, passed away peacefully in his sleep, at home on Sunday, December 2, 2018. He was born June 14, 1936 to the late John Elbert Loden and the late Sybil Thompson Loden in Dorsey. Robert married the love of his life, Margaret Gurley on December 24, 1955. They were married for 55 years before she passed away in 2011. He graduated from IAHS and IJC. He was employed as a bookkeeper at Loden Gas Company; he eventually acquired the business. Robert and his business partner Charles Lesley operated L & L Butane in Red Bay, AL for many years. He was in propane gas business for a total of 44 years. He was a veteran of the Mississippi National Guard, where he served 6 years and honorably retired with the rank of Staff Sargeant. Robert was a devoted member of Big Oak Baptist Church where he has attended since the 1950's. He served as church treasurer for 50 years, and as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. Robert devoted his life to God, church, and family. Services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday December 4, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. Jackie Gray and Bro. Doug Wilson officiating. Burial will be in Keyes Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday December 3, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home. Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. Robert is survived by his Son, Julian (Elizabeth) Loden of Belden, Daughter, Janice Loden of Richmond Community, Grandson, Eric (Jade) Grissom of Dorsey, great grandsons, Gavin, Noah, Rylan, Walker, and Zeke, Sister, Brenda (Lindy) Gambrell of Belden, long time buisness partner and special brother, Charles Lesley of Red Bay, AL, special friend, Cathy Huddleston of Mantachie, and a host of other family members. He was preceded in death by his Wife, Margaret Loden, his parents, Granddaughter, Dana Grissom, 5 sisters, and 2 brothers. Pallbearers will be Eric Grissom, Scotty Hughes, Matt Moore, David Smith, Trent Browning, and Jordan Browning. Honorary pallbearers will be his great grandsons, and all former employees of Loden Gas Company and L&L Butane.
