Thomas Sykes, 75, passed away Friday, August 24, 2018, at North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo. He was born August 7, 1943 to the late Elbert Sykes and the late Mary Mayo Sykes in Duck Hill, MS. He was long time resident of Lexington, MS where he was member of the Harland Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon for many years before relocating to Fulton, MS. He was a member Trinity Baptist Church in Fulton. He enjoyed going to auctions, and was known to be the ultimate wheeler and dealer. He enjoyed cooking fish and was known to many as Catfish Tom. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard. He was known to be able to drive or fly anything except for a train and that was only because he didn't own one but he had worked on them. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and the Haney Dulaney gang.
Services will be at 3:00 pm on Sunday August 26, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home with Bro. David Haynes officiating. Burial will be in Harland Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm on Sunday August 26, 2018 at Senter Funeral Home. There will also be a service at 1:00 pm on Monday August 27, 2018 at Harland Creek Baptist Church in Lexington, MS with Bro. Roger Richardson officiating. Visitation being from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm on Monday August 27 at Harland Creek Baptist Church.
Senter Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
He is survived by his Wife of 52 years, Lura Sykes of Fulton, 2 Daughters, Susanne (Jason) Digby of Fulton, and Stephanie (Louis) Howell of Monroe, LA, Grandson, Connor Howell, step grandchildren, Greg (Amanda) Howell of Nashville, TN, Matt (Kristl) Howell of West Monroe, LA, Alicyn (David) Franks of West Monroe, LA, Sister, Virginia Melton of Hattisburg, Brother, Lamar Sykes of Pickens, MS, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a Brother, Charles Sykes.
Pallbearers will be Connor Howell, Rodney Rogers, J.J. Pritchard, Owen McLellan, Johnny Adams, Michael Gough, Don Miles, Stan Digby and Chris Rogers.
Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Douglas, Bill Dykes, Ted Wallace, Royce Brooks, Danny Digby, and The Dulaney's Grocery Crew.
